1111Ancient Veneto and Venetian Music: a series of concerts at San Rocco
"Spring Concerts" in April, May, June; "Summer-Autumn Concerts" in July, September, October. 18 concerts featured in the Church of San Rocco, always at 17: arias, singing, sonata, oratories, songs, vocal-instrumental songs. A rich and refined repertoire. This is the program of the "International Musical Festival of Veneto and Venetian Music at the time of the Dogi 2017 ", successfully reaching the tenth edition.
The aim of the Festival is to rediscover, value and spread Venetian music of the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical period of Italian and foreign authors, active since the XV century as the Chapel's Maestri at the Basilica of San Marco, which have contributed to making the Venetian music school world-famous, as emphasized by Maestro Gasparoni, founder and director of the group of "Ancient Music of Venice, The Music of the Serenissima".
Some concerts will be dedicated to Claudio Monteverdi given the writer and composer's 450th birth anniversary which will be celebrated this year. An organist repertoire for the enhancement of the historic organ Pietro Nachini of 1742 by Pietro Callido is also foreseen.
The initiative enjoys the patronage of the Veneto Region, the City of Venice and the support of the Archconfraternity of San Rocco. Free entry.
